Francesca Reggiani

I graduated in Animal Biotechnology at the University of Bologna in 2011, after an internship on tumor angiogenesis at the Medical University of Vienna (Austria) at the laboratory of Prof. Erhard Hofer. After graduation, I won a “Leonardo da Vinci-Unipharma Graduate Fellowship” that allowed me to get an internship abroad at the R&D department of Eli Lilly (UK).

I obtained in 2017 the PhD in Molecular Oncology from the European School of Molecular Medicine (SEMM) at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan (Italy). There from 2012 to 2018, I joined the Laboratory of Clinical Hematology-Oncology directed by Prof. Francesco Bertolini, with a project focused on the bidirectional interaction between adipose tumor microenvironment and triple negative breast cancer.

Since 2018, I am a PostDoc Researcher at the Laboratory of Translational Laboratory at AUSL-IRCCS of Reggio Emilia, where my research interest focuses on the tumor microenvironment and cancer immunity in solid tumors. In 2020 and 2021, I won Umberto Veronesi Foundation (FUV) Post-doctoral Fellowships with projects on Natural Killer (NK) cells reprogramming in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). My current research is focused on the characterization of the molecular mechanisms driving NK activation and how NKs can be exploited in the therapeutic treatment of TNBC patients.

These studies are financially supported by AIRC (MFAG2023), Institutional funding (5x1000-2021) and charity donation promoted by local Associations, and are performed in collaboration with the Oncology Department, the Pathology Unit and the Breast Surgery Department.
